What's Happening In Northern Victoria

Dave (left), outgoing Northern Regional Coordinator, and Di (right), incoming Northern Regional Coordinator

I’ve been involved in SU since 1973. I was 14 and went on my first beach mission as a Junior Team member … without my parents. I absolutely loved it and felt a sense of calling to share the Good News. Moving my library at home the other day and found a Living Bible New Testament given to me at that mission! So SU’s been a huge part of my life – 48 years!

As Northern Regional Coordinator, right now I’m seeing a region where a lot of kids and communities feel isolated. I see local chaplains working as hard as they can to find ways to minister to their communities. At the same time I’m also seeing Chaplains with a real glint in their eyes about what God’s up to and exploring new ways of working.

I’m excited about the possibility of new Catalysts in the region, expanding the chaplaincy work and developing our Theos, Kids Games and SUFMs. We have so many opportunities to invite and empower people of all ages to be part of God’s work in young lives.

The region currently stretches from Swan Hill in the North West down to St Arnaud, across to Flowerdale and Mansfield in the South East and up to Wangaratta. It includes:

  • 3 Theos and Kids Games teams
  • 14 school chaplaincies
  • 5 teams of school volunteers including 2 brekkie programs
  • 15 camps including SOAR Adventures Camps and Mountain Bike Camps
  • 1 Catalyst in Murrindindi Shire and growing partnerships with St Arnaud

As I leave this role and spend more time developing the church life in Castlemaine, I’d like to say thank you to all the supporters of SU, many of whom I got to know very personally in my State Director days. Thank you for your profoundly important contributions to our ministry so we can operate. You inspire me and I am a supporter of SU as much because I’ve been inspired by your commitment and by your heart. Keep it coming, it’s so important.

— Dave, outgoing Northern Regional Coordinator

Welcoming Di, our new Northern Regional Coordinator

Di lives in Glenrowan with her husband. Di brings to SU, extensive ministry experience including chaplaincy, community development, mentoring support, and training. Di plays an active part in the ministry of God's Squad CMC. Di has a strong missional heart and loves to see new ministries activated. We welcome Di to the SU team and look forward to seeing God at work as she serves in the Northern region.

If you’d like to partner with Di and follow what’s happening across Northern Victoria, email us su@suvic.org.au.
