Spring To Life

Our vision is for every child, young person, and family to have opportunities of transforming experiences of God’s love and Good News. This inspires missional imagination, empowers prayer and brings energy and creativity to ministry. In this edition we share glimpses of stepping towards this vision, stories of God at work in young lives in new communities and through innovative ministries as chaplains and volunteers teams serve in schools, on camps, and on missions.

The SU movement has been busy! The Coola interns travelled to the Northern Territory to support Katherine KidsGames. Construction is nearing completion on the Lake Camp Multi-Purpose Hall, finalising the Coola Building Project. Coola is heavily booked with school camps Terms 3 and 4.

Winter School Holidays included the launch of East Gippsland MAD (Make a Difference) Day Camp, and in-person Performing Arts Camp and Portland SUFM Youth Programs, reconnecting and impacting.

Last week we welcomed our 50th Chaplaincy program. We give thanks for the privilege of serving students, staff, and
families in each of these schools and acknowledge the creativity and resilience demonstrated by our chaplains in responding to transitions between at school and remote learning.

On June 1 SU Victoria, together with SU movements in six other states and territories and ChildSafe, merged to become Scripture Union Australia. The heart of our national movement is to grow local ministry. I want to thank and acknowledge the leadership of Justin Simpson and the governance of the Andrew McKenzie and the SU Victorian Board in this process. Peter James is Group CEO and Ana Davy is the South Zone Group Director leading SU’s ministry the ACT, South Australia, Tasmania, and Victoria. Over the past two months the staff team have been connecting with SU colleagues from across Australia, finding their place in new teams, sharing resources, and implementing effective improvements in systems. Please continue to pray for this transition. As part of Scripture Union Australia we’ve included information on our Privacy Policy, particularly regarding your information. More details are can be found here.

In June I was appointed as SU Regional Manager, Victoria. After 7 years serving with SU Victoria I am excited for the opportunity to lead the team and the ministry in Victoria. Thanks for being part of Scripture Union in Victoria. Please pray God continues to empower us together with creativity, courage, and energy as we serve with love, and engage with impact.

God bless you!
