How long have you been with SU and in what capacity?
Since 1990.. in a delicious trek through roles; from training coordinator, to administration support, to schools worker, to Youth Specialist, then Missions Coordinator and now back in schools work!!! I’ve also had opportunity to input at National and International levels.
Why do you do what you do?
I love the mission heart of SU – to share the transforming news of God’s Love and desire for the world – reconciliation, healing and purpose. SU gave me tools and opportunities to get involved and see lives and whole communities changed – I want to help other do the same.. and MORE!
What are you passionate about?
Jesus’ example and invitation to follow him is the best offer going.. I want people to hear, see and taste what it could/does mean for them.
What excites you about your job?
Seeing young people get a glimpse of their true value and potential and the God who created them, through ELEVATE initiatives. Meeting and working with people of all ages who are fired up to bless their community.. is an antidote to exhaustion, discouragement and cynicism.. and an absolute privilege.
Some other stuff about you
Long ago I sang Gospel, jazz and swing in pubs, concerts and for worship events,.. these days it’s more to the ‘audience’ of our daughter Chloe, at home and as we go about a busy people-filled life she’s the biggest ‘joint project’ of my and Paul’s lives.. and worth every drop of energy.. which it does sometimes take! She’s got rhythm -and a very funky dance style- already, and often insists I stop singing so she can do her own version ‘by myself!’.
