Hi there! My name is Kylie Hunter and I have been working with SU Victoria since November 2004. I began my role with SU as an Admin Officer for Camps and Children’s and Families Ministry. I have since made my way around the office into a variety of roles, and have now landed in the role of North East Regional Coordinator and Schools Team Leader, which I am thoroughly enjoying.
In my time at SU Victoria I have developed a passion for assisting churches to reach out to the children and youth in their local community through connecting in with the local school. In my current role, I aim to resource and equip local churches to do this outreach effectively, transforming whole communities as they Connect, Build and Empower local youth through SU Victorias unique ELEVATE strategy.
My passion for schools ministry has developed from early on in my role as Admin Officer for the Schools Team, where I was surrounded by all the talk of schools ministry, and the stories of young people’s lives being transformed. This led me to commit to growing an ELEVATE ministry at my local secondary college – Whittlesea SC. I have met some terrific students in my time there and really enjoy the one lunchtime a week I get to spend with them, hanging out and hearing about what is happening in their lives. This has been a fantastic experience, and a great learning curve. It has also had it’s tough times, particularly since Feb 7 last year, as we grapple with the impact this tragedy has had on the local community, and particularly the children and youth of the area.
Outside of SU Vic I am very involved in my local church and community. I volunteer with the Whittlesea Agricultural Society and their youth offshoot WAYS (Whittlesea Agricultural Youth Society), which is the organizing body behind the Whittlesea Show. (A fantastic family event held on the 1st weekend of November every year ) I am also a member of the local Chaplaincy Committee, supporting the chaplains in the secondary and primary school.
