Chaplaincy Info for Principals
What is SU’s School Chaplaincy approach?
As a Christian based organisation, SU believes strongly that healthy spirituality is an important indicator in resilience, confidence and effective citizenship. We agree with The Melbourne Declaration which says “Schools play a vital role in promoting the intellectual, physical, social, emotional, moral, spiritual and aesthetic development and wellbeing of young Australians…”
and Dr Michael Carr-Gregg, who says
“Research shows spirituality is a major protective factor in the lives of young people and I think the role school chaplains play is incredibly important.”*
At SU, we believe that if young people are healthy on the inside, they are more likely to thrive on the outside.
